Acupuncture

Inter-Health LLC provides two different lines of acupuncture services: community-style acupuncture and traditional acupuncture.

All of our acupuncture services are based on the principles of Chinese Medicine and treatment always begins with a consultation to review symptoms, identify patterns of imbalance that are causing symptoms, and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Pattern identification and treatment planning is individualized and takes into account each person’s functioning so treatment can be tailored to meet their needs.

About Acupuncture

The ancient art of acupuncture has stood the test of time, dating back approximately 4000 years. The continued widespread use of acupuncture in Asian countries and the increased use in different parts of the world is a testament to its effectiveness. Acupuncture is designed to treat the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels and treats all health concerns in a holistic way. It is one of the best preventative approaches to healthcare available. The treatment plan is based on a traditional diagnosis and is unique to each individual. Many people report experiencing a deep sense of relaxation during acupuncture sessions.

Community-Style Acupuncture

In the Community Acupuncture Clinic, treatment is provided in our Community Room, where you will be seated in a comfortable recliner. In this setting, we practice a style of acupuncture that uses primarily distal points in the arms, hands, lower legs, feet, head, face, and ears. That means we will rarely put needles in the areas where you are experiencing pain. This style of acupuncture makes it possible for us to effectively treat you in such a way that privacy is not a problem in the community setting. The acupuncturist will insert needles in specific points to begin to address your condition. A typical treatment lasts from 30 – 45 minutes once needles are inserted, depending on the condition being treated. Acupuncture has been shown to be most effective when it is done frequently and regularly. Most conditions require a series of treatments in order to sustain progress made in treatment.

We strive to keep our fees affordable by utilizing sliding-scale fees for our Community Acupuncture Clinic. This makes it possible for you to receive enough acupuncture to sustain progress on your health problems. The purpose of our sliding scale is to separate the issues of money and treatment; we want you to come in often enough to get better and stay better!

Traditional Acupuncture

Some people prefer to receive acupuncture in a more private setting. This type of acupuncture is usually done with you in a private treatment room while lying on a massage table. The acupuncturist will complete a thorough evaluation which includes reviewing your medical history, asking a series of questions designed to identify patterns of imbalance related to your symptoms, feeling your pulse at the wrists, examining your tongue, and possibly palpating affected areas or potential needling sites. The evaluation will include questions about pain or other symptoms, body temperature issues, appetite and thirst, eating habits and digestive health, sleeping patterns, energy level, allergies, visual or hearing problems, questions specific to men and women, and any other information you believe is relevant to your condition. It will also include questions about stress level and changes in mood that may be impacting your symptoms.
The purpose of a thorough evaluation is to identify the root of your problems and begin to work toward correcting imbalances that are causing your symptoms. The acupuncturist will develop an initial acupuncture point prescription and a treatment plan to address your concerns. With this type of acupuncture, there is more flexibility in choosing the best points to treat your condition. Treatment sessions last between 30-45 minutes after needles have been inserted. Private acupuncture treatments often include the use of accessory techniques like cupping, gua-sha, electro-acupuncture, and heat therapy when appropriate.
